Hun Manet Promotes the National Unity Movement "Khmer Loves Khmer"

KAMPONG SPEU: The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, has continued to promote the national unity movement, “Khmer Loves Khmer" to ensure peace, stability and development in the country.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the project on Landmines and Unexploded Ordnance under the Prime Minister’s Mine Action initiative to “Provide Safe Land, Create Smiles” in Kampong Speu Province on Tuesday, 15 November, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet said that Cambodia’s bitter history of war and massacre left millions of landmines and unexploded ordnances scattered throughout the country. These explosive remnants of war require government intervention to address the difficulties and challenges faced by citizens, especially in farming areas where tens of thousands of families face threats.

He added that the Royal Government of Cambodia still considers demining activities to be one of the top priorities for rebuilding and developing the country. In addition, the Royal Government has made every effort to promote the success of national mine action projects.

"The main goal for the future is to expand opportunities for the development of our villages, communes, districts, provinces and country to be more prosperous, as well as to continue saving people from fear and danger because of landmines and unexploded ordnance, as well as to escape the fear and danger of war that could recur in our territory if we are negligent,” he said.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Sen for always showing warmth to the people of Cambodia by working to eliminate the risk of landmines and unexploded ordnance in the country.

He also thanked the wider leadership, including officials and staff of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), the National Center for Peacekeeping Forces (NPMEC), and local authorities at all levels, for cooperating and facilitating various tasks that have contributed to the performance of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) in the field of humanitarian demining, and in accordance with the principles of the Royal Government to reach Cambodia's goal of a ‘Mine-Free Cambodia by 2025.’
